The dominant sectors of the North East economy are manufacturing, business services and the public sector. House prices in the North East are substantially lower than the national average, although the gap has narrowed in recent years and this trend will continue as the North East catches up with the rest of the UK.

The Tourism Regional Campaign has invested heavily in promoting the area with events like the 2007 World Tourism Awards at the Sage Gateshead Centre. The Regional Development Agencies and Public Sector in general have launched and ambitious £100 billion investment scheme designed to encourage investment that is both sustainable and focused on growth in the area.
These main objectives are:
- Bringing more people to work
- Driving up innovation
- Building Entrepreneurship
- Capturing more global trade
- Building more quality homes and places
With so much investment due from local and National levels, this makes the North East the most untapped market currently in Europe for property investors. |
